Choose Google Fonts for Readability and a Stable Page
A web font should support the content and remain readable when loading conditions are imperfect. Choose it with real headings and paragraphs, not only a sample alphabet. Keep the implementation as deliberate as the visual choice.
Test the actual language and content
Check the characters, punctuation, numbers and styles used on the site. Include long headings, links and form labels. A family that looks suitable in one short sample may not support the full language or the information the page needs to display.
Limit the required variants
Choose a small set of families and weights that serve a clear hierarchy. Avoid requesting styles that the design never uses. Keep the typography rules understandable so later editors do not add a new font for every panel.
Provide a fallback and loading strategy
Google’s API guide explains referencing a stylesheet and using the family in CSS. Include an appropriate fallback and review loading behaviour. Test the page with a delayed font request so the team can see whether the content remains usable.
Check the published page
Inspect reading, layout shifts and form controls on representative devices. Confirm the downloaded font’s licence when distributing or hosting files through a particular workflow. Retain the implementation details so future changes can update the typography without breaking unrelated templates.
